Advanced Production Pool - General Info

The Advanced Production Pool is a group of Cinema students eligible to apply to advanced production classes (scroll down for a list of classes). The Pool consists of qualified undergraduates, graduates, and foreign exchange students pursuing a degree in Cinema.

The Cinema Department is currently (fall 2013) revising the process for joining the production pool and enrolling in advanced production courses.  Updates on the process will be posted on this blog as soon as further information is available.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for undergraduate students:
•Declared Cinema major
•Completion of core classes -- CINE 200, 202, 204, 211, and 212 -- with a "C" or better
•Completion of CINE 310/316 with a “C” or higher
*Note: If you have not previously completed CINE 340/341, you must enroll concurrently in your first semester taking advanced production classes.
*Animation emphasis students may substitute CINE 365 for either CINE 211 or CINE 212.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for graduate students:
•MFA: Completed CINE 710 with a "C" or higher
•MA: Consent of instructor
Note: Graduate students have separate production electives which should be taken into consideration when planning a course load (CINE 755: Feature Screenwriting; CINE 761: Directing for Cinema; CINE 762: Advanced Cinematography; CINE 763: Cinema Laboratory & Editing)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for foreign exchange students:
•Cinema / Film / Media emphasis
•Established background in film or video production
•Procedure: Apply to the join the Pool in the semester prior (normally in October for spring semester and March for fall semester). Contact Scott Boswell for more details: sboswell@sfsu.edu
